Support the ones you love
Climbing into the car, for what I considered to be early in the morning, the good weather Gods for our Saturday roadtrip to Somers were gentle. Smooth sailing down the freeway with coffee in hand and Melways on support, Kellie and I made it with time for breakfast at “the” place to grab food when your in Somers, the one and only General Store.
Waiting for the service, my city patience was tested and reminded, we’re not in the big smoke anymore, it’s time to slow things down a bit. But before I get to indulged and go into the details of my breakfast (poached eggs with side of sausage) I should fast forward to the part involving the star for the day Tash Parker.
Tash was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Very easy going, welcoming and keen for a chat making things very easy to follow the fairly null planned day and take things as they came. I perhaps wished I was able to capture more of that side with the camera, but we don’t want to be too creepy with a camera in the face all the time do we. For it is the music that maketh the mistress.
The first song Tash played, On This Wind, I had not heard before and was my favorite for the day. After a brief walk along Somers beach, Tash found a special log to sit on, and brought out her shinny guitar (wave hello to mr camera man!) and began. The timing of the little friend at the end seems almost contrived, but I guarantee we’re not that cheap to throw that kind of false moment of spontenaity at you.
After the beach time sessions there was a bit of a impromtued bushwalk, where I did bring the camera out for a bit, but if I posted that footage you would probably loose your poched eggs with side of sausage on your keyboard. Then we settled in a secret garden and Tash took it away for a few more tunes.
It was a pleasure to do this shoot with Tash. For both Kel and I it was a great time to get away from the city for a day and experience some music, beach and pumpkin muffins. I hope these videos can take you somewhere special as well.
